Description

Thermarest: BaseCamp - Regular Sleeping Pad - Altrec.com Product Description:

For those who want to feel pampered by their camping gear, the redesigned Thermarest BaseCamp Regular sleeping pad is the answer. Two inches (a quarter inch thicker than the previous version) of comfy open cell foam provide insulation and comfortable separation from river rocks, cold dirt, or a hard floor. The self-inflating Thermarest BaseCamp Regular sleeping pad is five inches shorter and narrower than the BaseCamp Large sleeping pad, a good option for smaller framed campers, those who rarely toss and turn in their sleep, or those who would like to save a few dollars instead of experiencing the expanded size of the large model. Additionally, some backpacking enthusiasts choose to carry the Thermarest BaseCamp Regular sleeping pad into the backcountry, figuring the extra weight is a worthy trade-off for a good night's sleep.

  • Fabric: 150-denier textured polyester

Good sleeping pad I have the XL version of this same pad, but wanted something that packed smaller and was a little bit shorter to fit on a cot or in the back of my SUV. The thickness of the pad is great. It's just a little too narrow for me. I am going to keep it though for situations in which smaller pack size is necessary.

great pad for side sleepers I have the Regular Size. I am a side sleeper and the women's prolite pad just wasn't cutting it. I used this one for a 3 night camping trip in September and it worked out great. The 2 inches was just enough that I didn't feel like my hips were digging into the ground. I'm very pleased.

Sleep in Comfort Although the Thermarest Basecamp Regular sleeping pad is marketed for car camping,I've found that it works great for wilderness travel too. Yes it's a bit heavier than other models from Thermarest but the 2 inches of thickness make a big difference in my sleeping comfort. I want to make sure I get quality rest at night so I'm willing to carry some extra ounces and it's less expensive than Thermarest's TrailPro model. I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 just because one has to be a little bit careful to make sure it doesn't puncture. I'm not trying to say that they're delicate. I've had Thermarest pads last for many years. But on the other hand I've had a pad leak after a cat walked over it. Thermarest does make another model that has an extra tough exterior but it's too expensive for me. Now I just make sure my cat doesn't get near my regular exterior pad.
