Description

Outdoor Research: Alpine Bivy - Altrec.com Product Description:

Owning a full-feature bivy bag doesn't have to weigh down your pack or your budget. The Outdoor Research Alpine Bivy bag doesn't have the extra length or the airy foot vent found in the Outdoor Research Advanced Bivy Bag, but if weight matters in the backcountry, you won't mind missing seven extra ounces. Outdoor Research developed the Alpine Bivy bag with a deep taffeta floor that easily accommodates thicker insulated mats like the Exped Downmat 7. The shell material on the Alpine Bivy is a triple-ply GORE-TEX® Respirator+™, a special durable and waterproof fabric specifically created for bivy sleep systems by GORE-TEX® labs. GORE-TEX® Respirator+ optimizes weather protection while creating a vapor-permeable layer that won't collect condensation like other weather-resistant bivy systems. If you need more ventilation, the no-see-um netting on the Outdoor Research Advanced Bivy Bag allows better airflow without letting the bugs in. The Alpine Bivy Bag comes with five stake loops, a single hoop poles and a guy line loop for adding space in an incredibly lightweight, two-pound package. Inside you'll find a small internal mesh pocket for your watch, flashlight, paperback book, PSP or Game Boy DS game system (really…) and other evening essentials. The high-volume foot area gives you plenty of legroom, although some find there's also space to keep a few Nalgene water bottles from freezing overnight. If the dimensions seem a little cramped and you need the extra legroom, consider opting for the larger Advanced Bivy from Outdoor Research--you get everything here, plus more room and a cool foot vent.

  • Waterproof and breathable triple-ply GORE-TEX® Respirator+™ fabric (designed specifically for bivy bags)
  • Large taffeta floor is sized to fit larger mats like the Exped Downmat 7 and treated with an anti-fungal coating
  • Waterproof taped construction for enhanced durability and consistent weather protection
  • Single flexible Delrin pole with shock-cord connections headroom inside bivy bag
  • Conveniently removable no-see-um netting over opening
  • Specifically sized to fit thick sleeping mats like the Exped Downmat 7
  • Convenient internal mesh pocket for flashlight, book and other evening essentials
  • Includes five stake loops and one guy line loop to maintain space inside bivy bag
  • Dimensions(w x l x h) : 26 x 84 x 20 in. (66 x 214 x 50 cm.)
  • Foot section dimensions: (h x w): 14.5 x 19 in. (37 x 49 cm.)
  • Weight: 37 oz. (1,106 g.) with pole

Worked Great on Mt Rainier At Camp Schurman, you gotta get to bed early. My bivy sack let me close it up so that I could get some darkness and close out the other folks around camp.(It gets crowded). Heck of a lot lighter than a tent, I'm gonna be taking this on loads of trips.
