this is a specialty snowshoe which is best-in-class the weight, compactness and traction of this snowshoe is really a nice package for specific situations - particularly when you're already a carrying a lot of winter gear and can't afford weight or bulkiness of other types of snowshoes. Traction is very good on firm or icy cover. I do not use them as my general-purpose snowshoes, but they could probably serve that purpose.
