Less is More! This is lighter and smaller than the big aluminum framed carriers and I prefer it now that my son hikes on his own and only needs an occasional carry. When he is not in the pack it is like a hiking pack for me with room for lunch and jackets. When I need to carry my son I just unzip the clamshell zipper to reveal the saddle and load him in. It is a little awkward to get him in but it carries quite well and can accomodate a larger child well. It also is better than the larger style packs for more active carrying becasue you can compress the child into your back more securely. Great for airplane travel too!
