Very Warm and Highest Quality this is definitely a very warm jacket, and one without a need for a shell since it's already waterproof- and the fabric is very tough. so far only saw one leaked down, but that's it. i love the size of the pockets inside out. they're HUGE. you can store bunch of stuff in them and still not look bulging. jacket is more appropriate for city and commute use. It is not suitable for extended hiking, trekking, ice climbing...no high perspiration activity! for walking and strolling in the cold cold and wet weather- this is the one to get. the jacket is very high quality- sturdy, and thru and thru, a very well-made jacket

Excellent Quality 100% Functional Purchased for Friday night camping Adirondacks snowshoe in by flashlight, camp overnight and cross country ski out in the morning. I go AT/Telemark/Alpine skiing Saturday and Sunday at Whiteface Mountain. Yes I do get a Hotel Room to shower and appease the woman. Technical side of this parka: at 4 degrees F. after sunset the humidity (yes even below freezing) condenses on anything not radiating heat. It is water-proof for this reason. The hoar-frost disappears 45/min to 1 hour after the sun comes up. Remember its harder to warm up than it is to cool down. Layer always in cold weather. Excellent quality control. Marmot must have someone at the factory in China inspecting the production run.

Thee best all around commuter jacket First I got the XL (48" chest) as I do in all Marmot products, but I think due to the 800 fill is was a little tight, so I got XXL...about 35" ctr back length. What a great commuter jacket! Do not really need to layer with this jacket, unless you live in the Artic... Yup, you will never be cold or get wet (waterproof), even while standing in the winter wind or rain for 30 or more minutes. The attached fleece lined hood is big, but not too big as in ridiculous. It will keep alot of wind out of your face - no need for that faux fur here. The jacket has 2 big hand warmer, external side, zip pockets. It also has some internal chest pockets left and right. (One is a zip.) Last, it is very, very lightweight and down proof. The high quality workmanship shows thru and thru. P.S. Order this and all your gear from altrec.com! The best return policy (and gear) in the world...
