Designed specifically for hard-charging expert freestylers, the durable, all-metal SAS2 140 Ti Wide Ski Binding from Rossignol is an ideal pick for wide park skis. While the Ti in the name hints at a lighter titanium design, the Rossignol SAS2 140 Ti Wide packs considerable heft compared to ordinary downhill ski bindings--but if you're looking for ordinary ski bindings, you probably don't own expert freestyle skis. This is an ultra-tough design that easily stands up to the abuse of double-diamond terrain and massive jumps. To keep you in your skis during hard landings, the SAS2 140 Ti Wide features a solid (not sliding) AFD plate behind the toe plate, so you're more likely to stay in your binding when you're momentarily off balance, but still safely release during a twisting fall. Our staff that uses this design likes the lower ramp profile, which gives freestylers more feedback by allowing their boots to remain closer to the ski surface than conventional alpine bindings. In soft snow it's easy to pull up on the reinforced heel piece for quick and simple reentry--a trait that other competitor bindings can't match.
