If you spend a majority of your day (up to 90%) on groomed runs, but you want the versatility of taking turns in the untracked terrain, Salomon's X-Wing 4 with integrated 610 binding is an ideal choice. Oriented toward carving, this ski features the narrowest waist width in Salomon's all-mountain X-Wing collection. The X-Wing 4 offers all-terrain functionality with an easy-carving sidecut and forgiving composite fiber core. Some all-terrain skis get a bad rap among beginners and less-than-hardcore skiers because they have a twitchy core profile that tends to feel a little too lively in the bumps and other ungroomed places. While Salomon's expert-oriented X-Wing 10 and X-Wing Tornado Ti have a wood core, the X-Wing 4 has a proven composite fiber core that absorbs the vibrations and shock of unanticipated (or unseen) undulations in the snow. This season Salomon tweaked their X-Wing 4 with new graphics but the emphasis on stability and predictable performance remains the same. The proven 610 binding has Salomon's vertical progressive pivot and the same automatic wing adjustment features found in Salomon's higher-end bindings.
