Perfect balance of function and style. I have looked hard for some 8in inseam shorts to replace my favorite pair (also a Columbia). Most shorts these days are long and come with cargo pockets only (not acceptable at some golf courses). Long shorts are ok for some activities (biking), but I don't want my shorts rubbing the back of my knees. But these shorts are not only a good fit, they are a rugged canvas that will improve with washings and should be strong for hiking and bushwhacking. They have a cool zippered pocket along the side seam on the right leg, so they have the function of a cargo without the bulky pocket. Waist size was spot on. Price is right. I was THRILLED with this order as I don't often buy clothes on the internet due to sizing and having to return items if they don't fit, but these shorts were terrific.

Excellent product My son will not wear any other short besides this Columbia w/o the cargo pockets. The zipper pocket is cool but mostly it's just the quality and the durability of the short can not be beat.
