Great shoes, a bit of a break-in period A friend of mine recommended these as a good all-around shoe for gym climbing, especially on the overhanging problems I'd been working. I ordered my pair a full size smaller than my street shoes based on how the Evolv Defy fit, but the Optimus seem to fit much more snugly than the Defy. Even though Evolv says the synthetic upper won't stretch, there is a bit of a break-in period. At first, my pair was painfully tight in the toes, and there was a bit of pain from the top of the heel cup, but after a few climbing sessions, it's now only mildly uncomfortable. I can't walk around all day in these shoes, but I can't argue with the results either. My first session with the Optimus, I tried a problem that I'd been working on, and on a move where my foot normally would slip from the hold, it didn't budge at all in the Optimus. Overall, I would say that if you're looking for a good gym shoe with an aggressive camber for bouldering, give the Optimus a shot, but be aware of the sizing and possible break-in period.
